About us

In 2005/2006 the Department of Business Administration started its Ph.D. Program in order to cultivate advanced Information Management professionals by recruiting experienced professors with outstanding research findings as teaching members, incorporating Digital Content, Knowledge Management, and E-Commerce as the key research directions, and establishing individual research groups accordingly.

Information about the qualification exam

Ph.D. Qualification Exam Regulations and Guidelines, Information Management Group, Department of Business Administration, National Dong Hwa University (applicable to students admitted for academic year 2008/2009 and afterward)
The aim of the Qualification Exam is to test students’ fundamental knowledge and skills for conducting independent research in the field of Information Management. The Exam is held annually in the first month of the second semester; results are announced in two weeks after the Exam. Those who intend to take the Exam shall submit the applications by the end of the first semester.
Students must pass the Exam by the beginning of the second semester in the third academic year; those who fail will be expelled. Those who fail the first Exam shall retake the Exam in the year followed; second failure, expelled.

Exam Subjects:

  1. Management Information System
  2. Research Method

Students shall pass, i.e. 75/100, all three subjects.

Group

Information Management Group

Requirement

A graduate with a Maser’s degree from any college or university registered with Ministry of Education in Taiwan, or that in any foreign country recognized by Ministry of Education is entitled to apply. Those who have accomplished the equivalent level of education required for pursuing a Ph.D. degree are also entitled to apply.

Procedure

1. Candidates are to be informed, based on the documents submitted, to attend the Secondary Exam.
2. Secondary Exam: Oral Test

Documents Required

1. Ph.D. Research Plan
2. Original Copies: Transcripts (ranking included) of Master’s program and Bachelor’s program
3. Master’s Thesis (finalized version from both domestic and overseas candidates; overseas candidates without thesis as their graduation requirement shall explain) or evidence of outstanding academic performance, such as articles published, academic awards reviewed openly, etc.
4. Two pieces of “Letter for Recommendation” from two individuals.
5. Other academic or creative works.
